Best ever ticket checking earnings achieved by South Western Railway


Railway Week Celebrations for Commercial Branch was held o­n 11.4.2017.A total of 94 individual awards, which includes 23 women staff and two group awards were distributed to Officers and Staff of Commercial Department by the Chief Commercial Manager, Shri K. Siva Prasad.

The highlight of the event was the achievement of South Western Railway with respect to ticket checking earnings. For the year 2016-17, South Western Railway earned 32.29 Crores as compared to 25.15 Crores for the period 2015-16, registering a growth of 28.39%.South Western Railway performance was the best amongst 16 Zonal Railways with respect to Ticket checking earnings.This was possible due to the continuous efforts of all Officers and Ticket Checking staff, who worked round the clock throughout the year.

The other highlight being that, SWR has not o­nly achieved but also surpassed the Originating Freight loading tonnage which stood at 44.187 million tonnes, as against the target of 43.75 million tonnes.

Besides, this Railway has introduced 12 new trains, extended 05 Passenger Trains, increased the frequency of Train No. 16579/80 Yeshwantpur-Shimoga Town-Yeshwantpur from Bi-weekly to Tri-weekly.

In line with the directives of Hon’ble Prime Minister, this Railway had introduced the facility of cashless ticketing through installation of POS at 140 locations, 113 ATVMs and Hon’ble Minister for Railways had declared 5 stations viz. Bengaluru, Yeshwantpur, Bengaluru Cant., Krishnarajapuram and Bangarpet as fully DIGI Pay stations.

Shri Anil Pavithran, Chief Commercial Manager (Catering Service & Passengers Services), Shri S.P. Shastri, Chief Commercial Manager (Freight Marketing) and other Officers from HQrs. and Divisions were available.
