PRIME MINISTER INAUGURATED ELECTRIFICATION OF RAILWAY LINE & WEEKLY HUMSAFAR EXPRESS

Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister dedicated electrification of Railway line between  Mysuru & KSR Bengaluru & flagged off Palace Queen Weekly Humsafar Express  between Mysuru &  Udaipur City  from Mysuru Railway Station o­n 19th February, 2018.  The event was attended by important dignitaries Shri Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways & Coal; Shri D.V. Sadananda Gowda, Hon’ble Union Minister of Statistics & Programme Implementation; Shri. Ananthkumar, Hon’ble Union Minister of Chemicals & Fertilizer Parliamentary Affairs for of the State; Shri Vajubhai Vala, Hon’ble Governor of Karnataka; Shri Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka have graced the occasion. Shri R. V. Deshpande, Hon'ble Minister for Large & Medium Scale and Infrastructure Development; Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, Hon'ble Minister for Public Works, Ports and Inland Water Transport & Minister In-charge of Mysuru District; Shri Pratap Simha, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Mysuru - Kodagu; Shri C.S. Puttaraju, Hon’ble Member of Parliament Mandya; Shri Dhruv Narayana Hon’ble Member of Parliament Chamarajanagar; Shri P.C. Mohan, Hon’ble Member of parliament from Bengaluru Central and Shri Rangasayee Ramakrishna Hon’ble Member of Parliament of Rajyasabha have  also participated in the function. Smt. Bhagyavathi, Worshipful Mayor, Mysuru Municipal Corporation; Shri Vasu, MLA, Shri H C Mahadevapa MLA and Shri Ramachandra Gowda, MLCs have also taken part in the function.

 

I.MYSURU- BENGALURU  ELECTRIFICATION:

The Railway line between Bengaluru and Mysuru connects the capital of Karnataka with important tourist and business city of Mysuru. Brief details of the section are as follows:

The work was started in 2010-11 and has been completed at a cost of Rs. 218 Cr o­n 50:50 cost sharing basis with State Government.

PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCIES COVERED

05 (Bengaluru Central, Bengaluru South, Bengaluru Rural, Mandya, Mysuru)

 

The Electrification will bring benefits in terms of faster travel, less pollution and energy savings:

 

·Sectional capacity will increase by 15% with better average speeds.  

·Line haul cost will reduce from Rs 365 to Rs 198 per 1000 Gross Ton Km leading to annual saving of Rs.20 crore in fuel cost.

·Regenerative braking will be possible with generation of about 20% electricity during braking.

·Diesel consumption o­n trains will reduce by 1.2 crore litres annually, reducing CO2 emission in the area by 5 Million Ton per year.

·Traction change enroute at Bengaluru will be avoided leading to smoother train operations and improvement in punctuality.

·This project will mark mile stone in the development of rail network in the region and it is expected to tremendously improve Railway connectivity benefitting 25,00 no. of daily passengers in the line including 6000 daily commuters between these two stations.

 

II.INTRODUCTION OF NEW HUM SAFAR EXPRESS TRAIN “PALACE QUEEN” BETWEEN MYSURU AND UDAIPUR CITY.

A new weekly Hum Safar Express train “Palace Queen” is being introduced between two important tourist destinations of Karnataka and Rajasthan i.e. Mysuru and Udaipur.  This will connect important heritage palaces in and around Mysuru, Bengaluru, Hubballi, Belagavi, Pune, Vasai Road, Surat, Vadodara, Ratlam, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur and pass through 5 states, i.e., Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, connecting whole of Western India.

      This will directly and indirectly benefit 30 parliamentary constituencies with having 12 stoppages enroute.         It will be passing through 11 districts in the state of Karnataka.

List of 30 parliamentary constituencies:

Karnataka-(14): Mandya, Bengaluru central, Bengaluru North, Bengaluru South, Bengaluru Rural, Tumkuru, Chitaradurga, Hasan, Davangere, Haveri, Belgaum, Dharwad, Uttar Kannada

Maharashtra (5):  Sangli, Satara, Pune, Maval, Palghar

Gujarat-(7):  Valsad,Navsari,Surat,Bharuch,Vadodara,Panchmahal, Dahod

Madhya Pradesh-(2):  Ratlam, Mandsaur,

Rajasthan-(2):  Chittorgarh, Udaipur

It is facility for middle class travellers with exclusively 3 tier AC coaches and the train is provided with GPS based LED display system for giving information o­n stations, train speed and with adequate mobile, laptop charging points and Divyang friendly Integrated Braille displays.  It will have plush interiors and comfortable cushion seats with curtains in each compartment.  The train coaches also have fire/smoke detection and suppression system.  Each coach has a small pantry unit equipped with Tea / Coffee vending machine, Hot box and Refrigerator, Urinal in 2 toilets per coach and Baby Nappy Changing Pad in 2 toilets per coach. In addition to these, all the existing features of Humsafar Express coaches will continue to be available, some of which are listed below:

·Aesthetically pleasing colour scheme with anti-graffiti coating and distinctive 3D numbering o­n the exterior.

·Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance of the common areas of the coaches.

·Hygienic lavatories with odour flushing system

·Passenger announcement system

 

            The train will depart from Mysuru at 10.00 hrs, every Thursday arriving Udaipur City at 4.55 AM o­n the 3rd day covering a distance of 2250 Kms.

The train designed for middle class travelers with exclusively 3 Tier AC Coaches is provided with state-of-the-art amenities. The train which passes through the States of Karnataka, Maharastra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan connects whole of Western India.

Benefits of Hum Safar Express:

(i)The train has a very efficient systems to detect fire and smoke as well as control them, which enhance safety to the passengers.

(ii)The berths of Humsafar Express are now more comfortable than the previous 3-tier AC sleeper with Khadi bedrolls.

(iii)Humsafar Express features side curtains o­n corridors like AC-2 to maintain privacy.

(iv)The LED screens o­n Humsafar Express display information about stations, train speed and others.

(v)There are mobile and laptop charging points next to each column of berths.

(vi)There are odour control systems, GPS-based information systems, toilet occupancy indicators.

(vii)The toilets have plush interiors, with soap dispensers and heat detection devices.

(viii)Each coach has a small pantry unit which is equipped with a coffee/tea/ soup vending machine, a heating chamber and a refrigerating box.

 

Train No. 19668, Mysuru - Udaipur City Palace Queen Weekly Humsafar Express departs Mysuru at 10:00hrs. o­n every Thursday from 01st March, 2018 and reaches Udaipur City at 04:55hrs. on respective Saturday.

 

Enroute, the train arrives/departs Mandya at 10:35/10:37 hrs. KSR Bengaluru at 12:10/12:15 hrs. Davanagere at 17:33/17:35 hrs., Hubballi at 20:35/20:50 hrs., Belagavi at 23:30/23:32 hrs. and o­n Friday arrives/departs Miraj at 02:30/02:40 hrs. Pune at 08:15/08:20 hrs., Vasai Road at 12:45/12:50 hrs., Surat at 15:42/15:47 hrs. Vadodara at 17:38/17:48 hrs., Ratlam  at 21:50/22:10 Hrs. and o­n Saturday arrives/departs Chittaurgarhat 02:50/02:55 hrs.

Train No. 19667, Udaipur City - Mysuru Palace Queen Weekly Humsafar Express departs Udaipur City at 21:00hrs. o­n every Monday from 26th February, 2018 and reaches Mysuru at 16:25hrs. on respective Wednesday.

 

Enroute, the train arrives/departs Chittaurgarh at 23:10/23:55 hrs., and o­n Tuesday arrives/departs Ratlam  at 02:50/03:15 Hrs., Vadodara at 07:31/07:41 hrs., Surat at 09:52/09:57 hrs. Vasai Road at 13:00/13:05 hrs., Pune at 16:55/17:00 hrs., Miraj at 23:45/23:55 hrs. and o­n Wednesday arrives/departs Belagavi at 02:08/02:10 hrs., Hubballi at 05:20/05:30 hrs., Davanagere at 07:38/07:40 hrs., KSR Bengaluru at 13:45/13:50 hrs. Mandya at 15:05/15:07 hrs.

The train composition will have 19 coaches comprising of SIXTEEN AC 3-tier Coaches, TWO Luggage cum Brake vans with generators and ONE Pantry Car.
