Press Release No. 03 Dt. 08.04.2018
ROAD OVER BRIDGE (ROB) IN LIEU OF LEVEL CROSSING
(LC) GATE NO. 388A AT BELAGAVI
ROB in lieu of LC gate No. 388A was sanctioned on a cost sharing basis with Govt. of Karnataka (GOK). The ROB is on the old Pune - Bengaluru road connecting Belagavi town with the outskirts of Belagavi and is located in a thickly populated commercial area.
The contract for this Road Under Bridge was awarded in May 2016 but work could not be started immediately due to the adjacent Road Over Bridge being under construction in lieu of LC gate No. 385 so as to cause less disturbance to city traffic. Work for construction of Road over Bridge (in lieu of LC gate no. 388A) was started in February 2017 on completion of LC gate No. 385.
Despite many challenges in execution of the work, as shifting of utilities, highly restricted working space etc., the work could be completed in a short time span of about 1 year, by virtue of meticulous planning and with the active assistance of local public, elected representatives and the district officials. Total Cost of construction this Road Over Bridge is Rs. 24 crore. This ROB is constructed for 4 lane traffic. The Length of this ROB is 505m and width of Road is 12.9m.
The work has now been completed and ROB thrown open for public use bringing great relief to citizens of Belagavi.
