63rd RAILWAY WEEK CELEBRATIONS AT SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY
South Western Railway celebrated 63rd Railway Week on 20thApril, 2018 at the Chalukya Railway Institute, Gadag Road, Hubballi.Shri A.K. Gupta, General Managerpresented meritorious awards to employees who have excelled in their work.16 Gazetted officers & 48 staff received individual awards. Along with individual awards, two woman of the year awards, 3 group awards comprising of 19 employees and Efficiency Shields in 20 disciplines were also distributed.Overall Efficiency Shield was presented to Bengaluru Division
In his address Shri A.K. Gupta, GeneralManager complimented the employees of SWR for their diligent efforts.
Shri A.K. Gupta, General Manager of SWR congratulated the officers and staff who are in the forefront of train operations. With their dedicated efforts the accidents in Railways has come down lowest in last 57 years. SWR has bagged Efficiency shield in safety category for the year 2017-18 at Ministry of Railway level. He has informed thatthe over all safety performance of Indian Railways is best in the last 57 years.
GM exhorted the employees to strive to fulfill the aspirations of passengers by maintaining the punctuality of trains, hygiene in coaches/stations and security and safety. He said that with the sincere and dedicated effort of staff and officers, SWR achieved many mile stones in the year 2017-18. Important ones are
ØLaunching of mobile app for unreserved ticket booking
ØHighest ever ticket checking earnings
Ø12 new long distance Express trains and 12 suburban(to cater for Bengaluru ) trains introduced during the year
Ø30 km of new line and 74 km of doubling commissioned
Ø100% LED lights provided at all stations and LC gates
ØHighest ever track renewal of 200 Km in a single year
ØGate Mitras employed at all unmanned Level crossing gates
The Principal Heads of all departments, senior officers of the zone also graced the occasion. Staff, supervisors, along with their family members, members of staff unions and representatives of the media attended the function.
