ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

Bangalore Division came into existence on 27.7.1981.This Division was carved out from the erstwhile Madras and Mysore Divisions of Southern Railway.Division has around 518kms of electrified route and 787kmsof non-electrified track. The Division is on a broad gauge system and encompasses 15 districts of three States:

The division has 1132.818 Route kilometer of track, out of which 787.857Kms are in Karnataka, 173.671Kms in Tamil Nadu and 171.290Kms in Andhra Pradesh.There are total 133 stations, out of which 104 are situated in Karnataka, 14 in Tamil Nadu and 15 in Andhra Pradesh.

To ensure safety of the passenger and Road users ,division has identified 29 nos. of Level Crossings to be eliminated this year, out of which 11 level crossings had already been eliminated during the year 2017-18.

On all 6 unmanned level crossings, “Gatemitra (trained person)”are available to warn and guide the road users when trains are approaching.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OF SBC DIVISION IN RECENT PAST;

1.Neelmangala-Sharavbelagola new line (110 Kms)construction had been completed andsection commissioned during the year 2016-17 .. Train service has also started.

2.A1 Class station of Bangalore City andYeshwantpur have been provided with escalators and lifts facilities covering all platforms. It helps physically challenged passengers and rail users to access railway facilities without hindrance.

3.Elimination of Level Crossings is a priority safety area.During last 3 years 86 level crossings had been eliminated (44-Manned & 42 – Unmanned level crossings)

4.53 nosRoad Under Bridges completed during last 3 years .

5.At 73 locations, rain water harvesting had been implemented during the year 16-17, to conserve water.

6.At Bangalore City station Second entry building and New Station Building at Krishnarajpuram was completed and commissioned for passengers during2015-16 .

7.At Bangalore City station, new Foot Over Bridge had been commissioned on 04.02.2016.

8.At Yeshwantpur , Extension of Foot Over Bridge connecting PF 2 to PF 6 at had been commissioned during2015-16;

9.At ChikbanavarandBFW ,Extension of Foot Over Bridge completed.

10.Hoodi&Chinnakota halt stationwere commissioned for the passengers..

11.At 31 stations over Bengaluru Division, extension of Platform Shelter had been completed ( around 6850 sqm).

12.Extension of Platform done around 8526 mtrs in 20 stations over the Division.

13.Raising of Platform to high level completed at 4 stations.

14.Division has provided around 111 nos. (4 seaters)steel benches and 1755 nos. of Granite benches at various stations during 2016-17

15.Toilets have been provided viz, RNN, DKN, HJL, RMGM, MAD,GDP, BFW, YPR, GHL, CRLM, PRNT,TCL, BSM.

16.Lifts provided at Yeshwantpur at Platform no 2&3, 4&5 and 6

17.At Bangalore City, lift has been provided on Platform-8

18.At YeshwantpurEscalators had been provided at Platform 1( both Tumkur and Bangalore city end), and on Platform no 6 , at SBC end.

19.Escalator had been provided at Plaformno 2&3 at Bangalore City station.

20.Division has planted 1.23 lakh tree saplings during 2016-17 . Also, garden has been developed at many stations and one nursery developed at eachsub-division.

Total 11 nos of divyang friendly toilets have been constructed, 6 Nos. at Bangalore City Station and 5 Nos. at Yeshwantpurstation.
