Shri K.S.Kalra, has taken over the charge as Principal Chief Engineer, South Western Railway on 6th September, 2016.

Born on 07th July, 1957, Shri K.S.Kalra did B.E. (HONS) Civil Engg. from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani.



An Officer of 1981 batch of Indian Railway Service of Engineers, Shri K.S.Kalra has worked on several important positions in Indian Railways. His previous assignments include working as Chief Bridge Engineer on North Western & South Eastern Railways, Chief Engineer (Track Machines) on North Western Railway, Chief Engineer/HQ on Central Railway, Director (Track Machines) & Director (Administration) in RDSO, Lucknow. Shri Kalra has also worked as General Manger, IRCON International at Mumbai on deputation.


Shri K.S.Kalra has undergone 8 weeks training in Canada and USA under United Nation Development Program (UNDP) for ‘optimization of service life of Rails and track fittings’.


Shri K.S.Kalra is an avid music lover and sports enthusiast. He loves to play Table Tennis & Billiards, besides swimming and walking.
