PRINCIPAL FINANCIAL ADVISOR
The Accounts Department of South Western Railway, led by the Principal Financial Adviser (PFA) of Accounts, is primarily responsible for the following key functions:
1.Ensuring that the accounts of South Western Railway are maintained in compliance with the prescribed rules and regulations.
2.Conducting internal checks on transactions that affect both the receipt and expenditure of South Western Railway funds.
3.Ensuring the prompt settlement of valid claims against South Western Railway.
4.Providing essential financial advice to the administration, as needed, on all matters related to railway finance.
5.Collaborating with other departments for the preparation of budgets and overseeing the implementation of budgetary control procedures as per the relevant orders and Code rules.
6.Managing various management accounting functions, including providing financial data for management reporting, assisting with inventory management, and contributing to purchase/contract decisions and surveys for major schemes, in line with applicable rules and regulations.
7.Monitoring and ensuring the absence of financial irregularities in the transactions of South Western Railway.
1. Highlights of SWR Financial Performance 2023-24.
ØAs against the target for the current FY of Rs.9163.19 Crs, Originating Gross Revenue to end of Feb – 2024 is Rs.8072.67 Crs. (Compared to Originating Revenue of Rs. 7264.87 Crs to end of Feb - 2023) i.e an increase of 11.12%.
Ø As against the RG for the current FY of Rs.7663.60 Crs, Ordinary Working Expenses of Rs. 7554.79 crs (Compared to
a) The Board’s Target has been revised at Rs.431.09 Crs which is 18.29% compared to the Actuals of FY 2022-23 i.e Rs.364.43 Crs.
b) The Sundry revenue to end of Feb 2024 stood at Rs.337.61 Crs against COPY of Feb 2023 at Rs.333.26 Crs.
