South Western Railway Provides ₹1 Crore Support to Bereaved Employee’s Family Under Railway Salary Package
South Western Railway has extended financial support of ₹1 crore under the Railway Salary Package (RSP) to the family of late Shri Channabasappa Kumbar, Hospital Attendant, Hubli Division, who passed away in March 2025.
The claim amount was credited on 28 August 2025 to the account of his widow, Smt. Mallamma Kumbar. In addition, the family has been provided Social Security Scheme benefits and settlement dues.
On the occasion, General Manager South Western Railway, Shri Mukul Saran Mathur, conveyed condolences to the bereaved family and said, “Life cannot be compensated, but SWR administration will always stand by our railway families in times of grief, ensuring all possible support.”
The initiative was made possible through the efforts of Ms. Bela Meena, DRM/Hubli; Smt. Suvarna Deshpande, CPO/A/SWR; and Shri R. Prasad S. Ichangimath, Sr.DPO/Hubli, in close coordination with the banking authorities. Senior officials of the State Bank of India, including the Deputy General Manager and Assistant General Manager, were also present during the function, reflecting the strong partnership between Railways and SBI in implementing the scheme.
The Railway Salary Package provides comprehensive financial security cover to railway employees, ensuring accident insurance support to families in the event of untimely death. This initiative once again reaffirms the commitment of South Western Railway administration to employee welfare and its continuous endeavour to stand by the larger railway family.
