CIVIL DEFENCE ORGANISATION, SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY
PERFORMED DEFENCIVE DEMONSTRATION ACTIVITIES
Civil Defence Organization, South Western Railways conducted a live demonstration and mock drill at Tungbhadra Supervisors Rest House, Hubballi. This was conducted to make the conclusion of Civil Defence training session organized by South Western Railway from 11.08.2018 to 15.08.2018 to interested employees.
Trained volunteers displayed various methods of extinguishing of different types of fire, several rescue operations for saving people in case of high rise buildings and emergency rescue methods during disasters.
Civil Defence organization in railways trains the employees who have volunteered to provide immediate assistance while handling with emergencies/ calamities and imparts them necessary skills for the same. These Volunteers are trained in protective, control and restorative measures. Volunteers so trained can minimize the adverse effects of calamities on men and materials. Their skills will come in handy to maintain the running of trains and restoring normalcy in such situations.
About 50 civil defence personnel have participated in this demonstration. Emergency rescue methods during disaster from high rise buildings have also been done.This demonstration was conducted under the leadership of Shri V. V Marathe, Sr. Civil Defence Inspector of South Western Railway Hubballi who has recently been confered with President of India’s medal for distinguished service.
Shri A.K Gupta, General Manager was the chief guest of this demonstration. He congratulated all the members who have undergone training of this session and he appreciated the enthusiasm displayed by the volunteers. He said that this training develops sprit of team working and also quick response learnt by members will help them in their jobs. He urged that more Railway staff shall undergoes civil defence.
Shri A.K Gupta also gave award to the civil defence inspectors Shri Ravi, Manjunath, Naikar for their outstanding work for Civil Defence. Shri B.B Singh, Additional General Manager, Shri Rajiv Saxena, Sr. Deputy General Manager, Shri Rajesh Mohan Divisional Railway Manager, Hubballi and other officers and staffs were also present on this occasion.
