Shri A. K. Gupta, General Manager / South Western Railway inaugurated a Passenger Reservation System / Unreserved Ticketing System / Freight Operations Information System Lab  and commenced Model Room Works today (28.08.2018) at Multi Disciplinary Railway  Training Centre, Dharwad .

Through this Lab, facility an offline environment for UTS/PRS ticketing and charting for imparting training to the staff is established. Freight Operations Information System (FOIS) Terminal is also installed in this Lab. With this Trainees will be able to learn practical operations, o­nline that are do be performed while dealing with loading / unloading of goods trains.  All these facilities will enhance the standard of training. Earlier, when this facility was not available, staff were to be taken out to Railway Stations for training purposes. Even there because of live systems, duration of training was limited. With this Lab facility trainees can have hands o­n experience at the institute itself by generating reserved/unreserved tickets etc. This facility was created at a cost of    Rs. 35 lakhs.

 A Model Room Works was also commenced. Availability of this Model Room facility for trains working under various systems like Absolute Block System, Automatic Ghat Section Working etc. is an absolute necessity for imparting training to Station Masters & other Operations Staff.  In this facility, a real life situation of trains working like tracks, signals, Outer Stations Yard etc.  is re-created with miniature working models. Trainee Station Masters will have the hands-on experience before they are posted where they shall operate for working of actual trains. And in the long run this facility helps in safety in train operations.  This facility costs    Rs. 2 Crores. This work will be completed by April 2019.  In the absence of Model Room facilities o­n SWR, Trainee Station Masters are sent for this particular phase of training to Secunderabad and Tiruchirapalli. The work of Model Room will be completed by o­n May 2019 at cost of Rs.1,96,02,954.

These facilities of UTS-PRS-FOIS Lab and Model Room works will benefit about 1000 employees of SWR who attend various modules of training at this Muti Disciplinary Training Centre at Dharwad.

Shri A.K Gupta told that further expansion of training and hostel facilities shall be planned. He said that South Western Railway envisages that this institute shall be developed as integrated training centre for various branches of Railway, Traffic, Permanent Way (track related) and Signaling & Telecommunications. He said that in enhancing competency of front line staff is the o­ne of the key objectives of Railways to improve operational efficiency.

            Shri G.J Prasad, Principal Chief Operations Manager; Shri U.S.S.Yadav, Principal Chief Engineer; Shri Rajeevan, Chief Personnel Officer; Shri V.K Goyal, Principal Chief Signal & Telecommunications Engineer; Shri Rajesh Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager and other officers of South Western Railway were present o­n this occasion.
