Press Release No. 23311-02-2019
Press Release No. 233, AUTOMATIC SIGNALLING BETWEEN BANGALORE CANT– BAIYYAPPANAHALLI SECTION IN SWR

                                                                    SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Press Release No. 233  Dt. 11.02.2019

AUTOMATIC SIGNALLING BETWEEN Bangalore Cant                - Baiyyappanahalli SECTION IN SWR

First Automatic Signalling section of South Western Railway between Bangalore Cant- Baiyyappanahalli west cabin was commissioned at 19:35 Hrs of 10.02.2019. It is another land mark in SWR’s journey.

Commissioning of Automatic signalling between Bangalore Cant-Baiyyappanhalli (6KM) is a part of Automatic signalling work between Bangalore Cant to White field (19 Km) of Bangalore Division sanctioned in 2013-14. The cost of the work for entire section is 19.75 Cr. The stations in this section are Bangalore Cant, Bangalore East, Baiyyappanahalli, Krishnarajapuram, Hoodi (Halt) & Whitefield.

The section from KSR Bengaluru – Baiyyappanahalli - Whitefield is highly important section dealing 86 trains per day. Total 26 Short distance/Suburban trains also running in this section. The work of Automatic signalling from Bangalore Cant- Baiyyappanahalli will augment the sectional capacity for running trains faster. Many trains in their way, towards Bangalore have to wait at the above stations awaiting platform clearance at main station of KSR Bengaluru.

Automatic signalling will ease out this situation & trains can move in their section between stations one after another, eliminating need to regulate at stations. It allows for a train to be dealt in every Kilometre in the given section.

Work is in progress for Automatic signalling between Baiyyappanahalli, to Whitefield. And the same will be completed by end of Feb 2019. This will ensure more trains per block section, leading to reduced headway of trains.

                                                     (E. Vijaya)

                                                       Chief Public Relations Officer
