Beat AIR POLLUTION”- SWR to ensure THIS year’s theme for world environment day

South Western Railway observed World Environment day today i.e. o­n 06thJune, 2019. Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, General Manager of South Western Railway administered World Environment Day pledge to the Officers and staff at National Flag Garden, Hubballi Railway Station. 

Speaking o­n the occasion of World Environment Day, Shri Ajay Kumar Singh said Our country is facing massive air pollution in these days, o­ne major step to beat this is planting of more trees. Trees play an important role in ecosystem to maintain ecological balance. Planting of more tress help with increase the green cover of the earth and improve the environment.

A skit and dance o­n the consequences of Air Pollution and importance of conservation of environment were presented by the Staff of Hubballi Workshop and Children of Railway High School, Hubballi respectively.

Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, General Manager of South Western Railway flagged off awareness rally from Hubballi Railway Station to Railway Officers Club in which large number of Railway Personnel, Members of Bharat Scouts and Guides, Children of Railway High School, Hubballi participated chanting slogans and displaying placards to create awareness among Rail users and general public for neat and clean environment in Hubballi Cityand  conservation of environment. Five Tableau vehicles decorated up with of model o­n importance of conservations of environment prepared by South Western Railway were part of rally. Plastic man tree made of decoded plastic bottles, waste etc. was the highlight of the rally.   

On this occasion 200 saplings have been planted by Railway Officers & staff at station and in Railway premises.

Shri B.B Singh, Additional General Manager; Smt. Sujata Singh, President South Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organization;Shri Rajesh Mohan, Divisional Railway Manager; Shri Shiv Raj Singh, Principal Chief Commercial Manager; Shri A.K Agarwal, Principal Chief Engineer; Shri S.K Gupta, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer; Shri Rajiv Saxena, Sr. Deputy General Manager; Smt. E. Vijaya, Deputy General Manager; Shri Anil Pavithran, Chief Commercial Manager; Shri S.K Jha, Additional Divisional Railway Manager;Other Officers and staff of South Western Railway were also present o­n this occasion.

Member of Hubballi bicycle rally have also participated in rally. Few small children have participated o­n roller skates throughout the rally.
