Indian Railways has grown leaps and bounds in the past few years and has continuously improved its services. From digitizing its processes to maintaining clean and hygienic environment in platforms & trains, railways has shaped up to be more and more passenger friendly. Here is once such incident where in a pregnant woman was provided with in-time medical facility by the railway staff.
On 16th May 2019, a Nepali couple were travelling from Bengaluru to Nepal via Delhi in the Sampark Kranti (22685) train in S-2 Coach. Around 2 am in the night labor pains started to the lady passenger when the train was passing through Khanapur in Belagavi District. The couple immediately called up Belagavi Railway station with the help of on duty TTE Shri Srinivas and requested for medical assistance. The Station Manager on duty Mr. Surendra Prakash promptly responded, called 108. By the time the train reached Belagavi, ambulance was kept ready. The railway staff also helped the couple in alighting the train and boarding the ambulance after train stopped at Belgaum. The lady passenger was later taken to KLE hospital, Belagavi for delivery.
Around ten days later, the couple visited the Belagavi station along with a healthy baby girl and pack full of sweets to thank Mr. Surendra Prakash, Station Master and staff for their timely arrangement of ambulance and on ground assistance which helped them in reaching the hospital on time.
