TRACTORS & SUVS MOVE FROM PENUKONDA TO NEW DELHI BY RAIL
Bengaluru Division of South Western Railway yesterday (04.07.2020) moved two New Modified Goods (NMG) Rakes.
First rake with 175 tractors was dispatched from Doddaballapur to Kankaria near Ahmedabad. The second rake with 100 SUVs started from Penukonda to Farukhnagar near new Delhi.
With starting of Kharif season, the demand for tractors has increased. After announcement of lockdown, during last three months, Bengaluru Division of SWR has moved about 500 NMGs loaded with tractors in 20 rakes from Doddaballapur Railway station. Each NMG holds 7 tractors. The tractors have been transported to places like Kanakapura and Bhagat ki Kothi in Rajasthan, Kankaria in Gujarat, Manideep in Madhya Pradesh and Changsari in Assam.
The Division has also transported cars in about 100 NMGs in 4 rakes to Farukhnagar in Delhi during last three months. Each rake carried about 100 cars.
Railway is looking forward to picking up this traffic with M/s KIA Motors and M/s TCL for dispatch of their SUVs and TAFE brand tractors on a regular basis. This was made possible with the sustained marketing efforts of Bengaluru Division headed by Shri A K Verma, DRM/Bengaluru and branch officers.
SUV being a high-end item, its demand gets impacted severely during any downturn like the Lockdown due to the pandemic. However, M/s Kia Motors, the automobile factory at Anantapur District under Bengaluru Division has started its production and dispatched off SUVs from their factory to New Delhi.
SWR is hoping to capture the movement of automobiles from the road traffic by providing quick and easy solution of transportation in future. Rail transport ensures the automobiles go in their best original condition to their destination. Railway is the best option for smooth transportation during present circumstances.
