MDTC COMPLETES THE TRAINING AND EXAM OF PROBATIONARY STATION MASTERS AMIDST COVID19 PANDEMIC
The initial training programme in progress at Multi Disciplinary Training Centre (MDTC) Dharwad for 97 Probationary Station Masters had been suspended suddenly from 19.03.2020, due to the Covid19 situation. Since the last several months, their promotion, training and posting was held up due to the Covid situation. Rising to this challenge, for the balance portion of the theory classes, classes were conducted in online mode for the trainees. They had all been working as Points man/woman in various stations across SWR.
Now, between 03.08.2020 to 12.08.2020, their practical training was held at MDTC Dharwad, in batches of 30-35 trainees at at time for every three days. The practical training involves safety aspects related to Block Operations, dealing of trains during signal and track failures, accidents and disasters etc. Social distancing norms during their stay in the hostel and during their practical training was scrupulously maintained as per the directives issued by the Govt of India. A Dormitory with 3 beds was designated as 'Quarantine cum Isolation Room' should the need arise. Medical Officers from SWR provided services of medical screening to each of the trainee-candidate.
The final written exam was completed on 13.08.2020 for these 97 trainees. They are soon set to join each of the Divisions of SWR, as Asst Station Masters, once they are declared passed in the exam.
