Press Release No. 215, RPF RESCUES WOMAN & HER CHILD

RPF staff of Belagavi rescued a 33 year old woman who had left her home to New Delhi along with her daughter aged 4 years. The woman is mentally challenged. Her parents approached the office of Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways, Shri Suresh Angadi seeking help to trace her.  They suspected that she may had traveled by train to reach New Delhi.  Immediately, the message was conveyed to RPF Post Commander at Belagavi and the RPF swung into action to rescue the woman and the child. PC, Belagavi contacted IPF/New Delhi as well as o­n duty officer and staff of RPF/Post/New Delhi and communicated the information.  The lady and the child were traced and rescued within 30 minutes o­n receipt of information at New Delhi railway station with the help of CCTV footage.  RPF provided food and water for the woman and her daughter.  Further she has been brought to Belagavi by Train No. 02780, H. Nizamuddin-Madgaon Goa Express duly intimating to her parents. After following all the procedures, she has been reunited with her parents at Belagavi o­n 09.09.2020.

Her parents thanked Shri Suresh Angadi for his concern in rescuing their daughter and granddaughter and thanked all the railway staff who got into the rescue operation. Shri Suresh Angadi, Hon’ble Minister of State of Railways has appreciated the quick response shown by the Railway staff.  He has congratulated all the officials involved in this rescue operation and has said that it becomes very important that how officials act and respond to public in such circumstances.  Railway staff responded humanely and executed the rescue operation quickly in a planned way, he said.  Shri Suresh Angadi invited the woman, her child and parents to his office and enquired about their well-being. Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM/SWR said that railway accords priority to safety and security of passengers and providing all the assistance they needed.  He lauded the work done by the staff of Railway Protection Force.
