COMMENCEMENT OF SWACHHTA PAKHWARA FROM 16.09.2020 TO 30.09.2020 o­n SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

Every year, Ministries in Government of India observe Swachhta Pakhwara from 16th Sept to coincide with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji, the father of the nation o­n 2nd Oct.  In Railways, to make a visible impact o­n cleanliness, during Swachh Pakhwara, each day is assigned with different activities to be taken up concluding with 2nd Oct  to be observed as Community Service day by involving participation of all stake holders.

The first day of the Swachhata Pakhwara i.e @16th September , was observed as Swachh Awareness day over the Zonal, Divisional and Workshop offices of SWR.  At SWR Zonal Headquarters, Rail Soudha, Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM/SWR administered the Swachhta pledge to the officers and staff duly maintaining social distancing  precautions.  The theme for the first day of Pakhwara was cleanliness and ban o­n single use plastic. o­n this occasion, Shramandaan and Tree plantation was organised by Environment and Housekeeping Management (EnHM) wing of SWR. Around 50 officers and staff participated today by wearing face masks and maintaining social distancing.  The members of the Scouts and Guides wing of SWR actively participated in the tree plantations and Shramdhan arrangements o­n the first day of Swachhata Pakhwara.

Speaking o­n this occasion Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM/SWR said that Prime Minister exhorted people to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean and hygienic India.  He informed that Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has been launched by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Prime Minister, 6 years back and the results are visible now.  He encouraged all the staff to participate in the drive, understanding the significance of cleanliness more so in the prevailing pandemic.  Shri Singh stated that cleanliness is next to Godliness as stated by Mahatma Gandhi ji and Swachh is the stepping stone for Yoga .

Shri P K Mishra, Additional General Manager was present. Shri P. Ravi Kumar, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer; Shri B G Mallya, Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, Kum Roopa Srinivasan, Principal Financial Advisor, Shri Vipul Kumar Principal Chief Engineer, Shri Ajay Kumar, Principal Chief Signal & Telecom Engineer, Shri Rajiv Saxena, Senior Deputy General Manager, Shri Anil Pavithran, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Shri G V Narayana Murthy, Principal Chief Materials Manager, ,Shri R S Chouhan, Principal Chief Security Commissioner,  Shri Alok Kumar, Principal Chief Personnel Officer and senior officers and staff were also present o­n the occasion.
