CHARKHA INSTALLED AT HUBBALLI RAILWAY STATION

A Charkha has been installed at the entrance of Shree Siddharoodha Swamiji Railway Station, Hubballi recently with Samriddh Bharat Slogan in the background made o­n artificial grass structure.  The charkha has been placed o­n a base of 3 feet  height and Mahatma Gandhi’s quote ‘My life is my message’ has been written o­n it.

A charkha is a symbol of self-reliance, which has inspired millions of Indians who took part in the freedom struggle led by father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi.  It has been installed as part of station beautification work.  On October 2nd, Meditating Mahatma Gandhi statue installed at the entrance and the charkha is an addition to that which instills the sense of patriotism.  It also enhances the aesthetics of the station and motivates in keeping the station premises clean.  

The Charkha has been sponsored by M/s. Durashine and M/s. S.C. Shettar & Sons and curated & made by M/s. Artwaley, Hubballi.  The civil works for installation has been done by the Railways. The station beautification work at Hubballi is being executed under the guidance of Shri Arvind Malkhede, Divisional Railway Manager of Hubballi Division. These artworks have become an attraction for the passengers at Hubballi station and are seen busy taking Selfie in front of these artworks to document their memories of Hubballi. 

Shri Ajay Kumar Singh, GM/SWR said that South Western Railway is taking steps to beautify stations for creating better ambience for passengers.  Installation of such art works willnot o­nly pleasing to eyes but also will make people reflect upon the sacrifices.
