SWR MEDICAL DEPARTMENT RAMPS UP MEDICAL FACILITIES TO TAKE o­n COVID19 CHALLENGE, TREATED 3162 COVID-19 PATIENTS

In order to tackle challenging circumstances in backdrop of Covid-19, South western Railway ramps up medical facilities. The infrastructure, manpower and material at all the three hospitals of South western Railway were upgraded to enable treatment of Covid-19 patients.

South Western Railway has treated over 3162 patients till date in the three Covid-19 nominated hospitals at Hubballi, Bengaluru and Mysuru. 24 employees and 93 (retired employees and beneficiaries) has expired due to Covid-19. As o­n date 67 active Covid -19 cases, remaining have recovered.  Dr. Vilas Gunda, Principal Chief Medical Director is monitoring the distribution and administering of the vaccines at the Railway Hospitals.

Central Hospital, Hubballi (DCHC-Dedicated Covid Health Centre-Level - 2) – 75 beds, Railway Hospital / Bengaluru (DCHC – Level - 2) - 50 beds (full hospital), Railway Hospital / Mysuru (CCC - Covid Care Centre) – 74 beds in South Western Railway were dedicated for COVID -19 cases.  Central Oxygen Pipeline was installed at Central Hospital / Hubballi and Railway Hospital, Mysuru at a cost of Rs.24.35 Lakhs.

Life saving equipments like Ventilators, HFNOs, Cardiac Monitors, Defibrillators etc. were procured and OT equipments like Motorised OT Table, Anaesthesia Work Station, Operative Hysteroscope Set, Vessel Sealing System and Micro Deridder were procured for upgrading the Railway Hospitals to deal with covid -19 cases and regular cases in 2020-21.
