Shri. G.M.Siddeshwara, Hon'ble Member of Parliament Davangere inaugurated the New Railway station building today in presence of Shri.Rahul Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru Division and local elected representatives from Davangere. Earlier he also formally opened the Road Under Bridge No.18 A near DCM layout for vehicular traffic.

Hon'ble Member of Parliament unveiled the plaque for New Railway Station and lauded the efforts of Shri Rahul Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru and other officers of Mysuru Division for speedy execution of the new station building amid Covid pandemic scenario. He also expressed happiness over the way the new building has come up with various new and modern passenger facilities. He also spoke about the appreciable performance of Indian Railways and thanked Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and Minister of Railways, Shri Piyush Goyal for sanctioning and  approving many infrastructure projects in Davangere  jurisdiction. He remembered contribution of late Shri. Suresh Angadi for  his quick sanctioning of Davangere new railway station building.

Hon'ble MP also inspected the new building along with Shri Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager and other senior officials of Railway and instructed to propose G+2 level for the building with additional passenger facilities.

He also inaugurated escalators connecting platform 1&2 (ascending and descending).

While briefing the press Hon'ble MP expressed confidence of laying the new line connecting Davangere, Chitradurga and Tumakuru, shortly. He thanked the state government for sanctioning Rs. 97 crores for the project and said about 49 crores has already been spent in acquiring 227 acres of land in Davangere and Chitradurga district.

He thanked General Manager, South Western Railway for implementing various projects and speedy execution of double line and expressed confidence that o­nce the doubling and electrification is completed more train services will be introduced in the section connecting different part of the country and said it will be a boost to development of the region.


Davangere town is the district headquarters and a historical town of Karnataka State.  The old station building was of pre-gauge conversion period. The old station was having inadequate passenger amenities. During gauge conversion, the platforms have been raised and the building floor level was lower than the platform level causing several inconveniences to the passengers and public and there was a huge demand for construction of new station building at Davangere. In addition, Davangere is identified for improvement as o­ne of the Smart cities of State of Karnataka

As a part of doubling, it was planned to construct new station building chargeable to doubling project. Even State Government has come forward to exchange land of Old AC office for improvement of this station building. The cost is around 17.50 crores for development of Davangere station including construction of Second entry and installation of escalators.

The new station building is having following salient features:

Beautiful station building which is a framed structure and foundations are designed for G+2 expansion.

Aesthetically designed station entry and flooring of portico and concourse area. 

Wider platform.

Lift facility

VIP Lounge

Provision of Cafeteria

Separate waiting halls for ladies and Gents

PRS facility

Retiring Room facility for passengers.

Separate Dormitory for ladies & gents.

Two FOBs – o­ne FOB with Twin escalators and the other o­ne with Ramp

Airport style aesthetic lighting

Integrated ticket system and state of art passenger reservation system.

The new circulating area is having following salient features:

New circulating area with wider entry & exit roads.

Four wheeler and Two wheeler parking area.

Selfie-point ( I LOVE DVG)

Prepaid Auto booth and separate Auto lanes

100’ high national flag with aesthetic designed monumental structure.

User friendly walk-way from Station to exit road.

Beautifully designed compound walls are provided every where to get aesthetic feel.
