Press Release No. 63, HUBBALLI DIVISION UTILIZES THE IDLE RAKE OF NMG FOR CARRYING PARCELS

HUBBALLI DIVISION UTILIZES THE IDLE RAKE OF NMG FOR CARRYING PARCELS

To meet the demand for transportation of Parcels, Hubballi Division is taking several steps.  For the first time in Indian Railways, the Division started utilizing idle General Second Class coaches to transport parcels.  In addition to this innovative idea, the division used the idle NMG rakes, which normally utilized for loading of vehicles, to transport parcels from Vasco Da Gama in Goa to Khori in Haryana.  The 3rd rake consisting of 25 wagons were loaded with a total of 210 Tonnes of commodities including Tyres, Food Products etc. This has generated a revenue of Rs. 12 Lakhs.  This is the second NMG rake loaded from Vasco Da Gama to Khori. Earlier o­n 16.04.2021, NMG rake carried Food products from Vasco Da Gama to Khori generating a revenue of Rs. 11.7 Lakhs.  Hubballi Division has earned parcel revenue of Rs. 1.06 Crores so far in the month of April 2021. 

Shri Arvind Malkhede, Divisional Railway Manager of Hubballi Division said that the marketing efforts and initiatives of Business Development Unit (BDU) has helped in capturing new avenues of parcel traffic and the Division has earned parcel revenue of more than Rs. 1 Core for the seventh consecutive month.  He said that Railways will make all endeavour to meet the expectation and needs of the business community for faster and efficient transportation of their cargo.
