SWR HUBBALLI DIVISION REGISTERED EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE IN FREIGHT LOADING
Hubballi Division of SWR has been on the forefront of freight transportation of SWR Zone. Nearly 75% of freight loading and freight revenue of SWR is fetched by Hubballi Division alone.
Now, braving the challenges posed by Covid19, the Business Development Unit of Hubballi - through intensive marketing efforts have successfully added two more commodities (Bajra and Cotton Seed Husk) to the list of items being transported by the Division. Indian Railways has kept the wheels of national economy moving, even during lockdown through swift, safe and efficient transportation of goods. For transporters of bulk cargo, Railways is emerging as a transport of choice.
Division has loaded Bajra - 2 mini rakes from Bagalkot to Tirupur and Namakkal fetching a revenue of 31.72 lakhs and A long distance traffic of a Mini Rake of Cotton Seed Husk captured from Navalur (Hubballi) to Rajapura in Punjab (distance 2278 kms). The cargo is light weight and therefore 536 T loaded in 21 wagons and freight revenue generated is 20.67 Lakh.
It is noteworthy that in 2020-21 rice from Gangavati (popularly known as rice bowl/granary of Karnataka) was transported to Azara, Assam for the first time, by rail by Business Development Unit Hubballi.
