WOMEN LEAD THE WAY IN FIGHTING COVID19 IN

 DIVISIONAL RAILWAY HOSPITAL, BENGALURU

The Bengaluru Railway Division has a staff strength of 12,800 and along with their dependants this number adds up to 32,000. The Divisional Railway Hospital caters to the medical needs of all these employees, their dependants and a sizeable number of the retired employees. Divisional Railway Hospital, Bangalore, being o­ne of the designated Covid Hospital is rendering comprehensive Medical services to Covid positive patients amongst the Railway beneficiaries and others.

Health care workers at Divisional Railway Hospital, Bengaluru, have exhibited an immense sense of responsibility towards their services in Covid Management setting aside their personal trauma of being infected themselves with Covid and also of their family members.

Dr Nandini Shenoy, Medical Officer and twenty other paramedical (Staff Nurses, Health Inspectors, Pharmacists, Lab Technicians, Office Staff and other support staff) were tested positive for Covid-19 during the second wave but all of them bounced back to duty immediately after completing their quarantine period/treatment. They all haves hown the exemplary commitment, devotion and dedication towards their duties for patient care, which act of theirs have been highly applauded by the beneficiaries availing treatment at Railway Hospital.

Dr Prabhavathy Gajalakshmi, Additional Chief Medical Superintendent (Admin), as  the in-charge of Covid Treatment in Railway Hospital/Bengaluru,  has shown utmost dedication towards work despite her husband tested positive for Covid and continues to do so. She has also conducted regular classes in the health unit of Railway Hospital/Cantonment for railway employees and their dependents regarding ‘Covid appropriate behaviour’.

 Dr B.R. Viswanath Kumar, of the Railway Hospital has played a key role, along with Additional Divisional Railway Manager Smt Kusuma Hariprasad in the ‘vaccination drive’ for railway employees and their dependents, despite both of his parents having tested positive for Covid. His timely co-ordination with State Government and BBMP officials merits immense appreciation.   Because of his tireless efforts, many railway employees and their dependents have been vaccinated.

Shri. Jayasheelan, Lab Superintendent, played a major role with his relentless service at Railway Hospital/Bengaluru for conducting Rapid Antigen Tests (RAT) and RTPCR test for many railway employees and their dependents, despite his daughter tested positive for Covid and admitted in hospital. 

Though there is shortage of hands in Railway Hospital/Bengaluru since 3 Doctors are o­n Child Care Leave and services of o­ne Doctor is being shared between Bengaluru and Mysuru, this was being managed efficiently under the able guidance of Smt  Kusuma Hariprasad, and commendable work is rendered to attend Covid patients and vaccination drive.

The list of such Covid warriors, who have rendered tireless continuous services for Covid patients is plenty.

Divisional Railway Hospital, Bengaluru, also lost o­ne of its dedicated Covid warriors Smt.Kalaivani M, aged 56 years, Senior Nursing Matron as she succumbed to the fight against Covid.

Shri Ashok Kumar Verma, Divisional Railway Manager, lauded the efforts of the medical team in the hours of crisis.
