SHRI SANJEEV KISHORE, GENERAL MANAGER, SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY HOLDS REVIEW MEETING o­n SAFETY AND FREIGHT LOADING

Shri Sanjeev Kishore, General Manager of South Western Railway conducted a review meeting o­n safety and freight loading of the Zone today i.e. 25th August, 2021 from Rail Soudha, Hubballi.  Principal Heads of Departments, Divisional Railway Managers of all the three Divisions viz., Hubballi, Bengaluru and Mysuru Divisions participated through Video Conference.  

            The General Manager reviewed the status of safety drives being conducted over the zone for smooth running of trains and safety in train operations.  The General Manager underlined during the course of inspections, the concerned officers, supervisors and construction staff shall be sensitized o­n all aspects of safety.

            Shri Sanjeev Kishore has emphasized that Railway staff shall work with the motto of “Safety First and Safety always” and advised that frontline staff shall be always alert.  He directed the officers to conduct regular inspections of Railway Stations and assets to ensure norms of safety are being followed religiously. 

            The punctuality of train services has been discussed and various measures to maintain and further improve the same were deliberated. The Cumulative Punctuality performance of South Western Railway from 1st April to 22nd August is 97.10 % and SWR stands at 4th position in Punctuality performance over Indian Railways. 

            Shri Sanjeev Kishore appreciated the loading performance of South Western Railway, which has carried 13.97 Million tonnes of Freight during the period from April to July 2021 with an increase of 36.1% compared to that of previous year. 

            He advised Business Development Units constituted at Divisions and Headquarters shall continue to work in Mission Mode to capture additional streams of traffic to widen the freight basket of Railways.    He advised the officials to approach prospective customers, conduct meetings for assessing the inputs need to garner additional freight and providing the same expeditiously.  He also advised to have regular interaction with present Freight Customers for smooth coordination. 

 Progress of various infrastructure development works and passenger amenities works was also discussed. He noted that 224 RKM of Railway track will be electrified in next 2 months.   It was instructed by Shri Sanjeev Kishore that all out efforts shall be made for timely completion of o­ngoing projects.  Shri Kishore advised officers to ensure compliance of timelines.
