Works relating to Operationalization of New Data Centre for Passenger Reservation System (PRS)/Unreserved Ticketing (UTS) at Chennai and its related repercussions in ticketing services

 Indian Railway Manages Passenger Reservation System (PRS)/Unreserved Ticketing(UTS)through 5 data centers located at New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Chennai. The Chennai data centre caters to three Railway Zones namely Southern Railway, South Central Railway and South Western Railway. Now a new data centre is being commissioned at Chennai and hence o­n account of this down-times will be experienced by Railway Department users, passengers and common public. During this down time there will be few restrictions in the PRS/UTS and in IRCTC Website. Day-wise restrictions were notified earlier for 25th,27th and 28th, 29th and 30thof  August 2021 (Refer Press release No.350 of 27.08.2021 of Southern Railway).

In order to facilitate relocation of Data Center equipment, o­n 29th and 30thAugust 2021, there may be intermittent disruptions to PRS, UTS ticketing services of trains originating from Southern Railway, South Central Railway and South Western Railway during for the period mentioned below:

·From 23:45 hrs of 28-08-2021 to 02:00 hrs of 29-08-2021 and

·From 23:45 hrs of 29-08-2021 to 02:00 hrs of 30-08-2021.

Change in Chart preparation time

The first Chart for trains originating between 00:00 to 8:00 hours o­n 29th and 30th Aug 2021 from any station of Southern Railway, South Central Railway and South Western Railway will be prepared 6-7 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, instead of 4 hours which is the normal rule.

Further, the Current Chart for trains originating between 00:00 to 3:00 hours o­n 29th and 30th Aug 2021, from any station of Southern Railway, South Central Railway and South Western Railway will be prepared 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, instead of 30 minutes which is the normal rule.

In view of this downtime, passengers are requested to make their booking in advance wherever possible. The inconvenience caused in this regard is regretted.

The list of trains originating from Southern Railway between 00:00 to 8:00 hours o­n 29th and 30th August 2021 is attached herewith for ready reference please.
