SHRI SANJEEV KISHORE, GENERAL MANAGER, SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY APPEALS TO PUBLIC TO CO-OPERATE WITH RAILWAY AUTHORITIES TO MAINTAIN SAFETY

On 21.10.2021 the locomotive of Train No. 08463 Bhubaneswar – KSR Bengaluru Express Special suffered damage due to stones placed o­n tracks by miscreants, just near Oddarahalli Station. Promptly, Railway authorities arranged alternative engine to haul the train. However, in the meantime the train suffered detention from 9.52 AM to 11.14 AM.

Taking prompt action, Railway officials registered FIR under section 147 & 154 of railway act and have detained one person in connection with the incident at Oddarahalli.

There were also incidents of stone pelting o­n receiving trains, reported during last week in between Hebbal – Banaswadi, Lottegollahalli – Hebbal near Channasandra and near Tumakuru Stations. Cases have been registered against miscreants by Railway Protection Force.

The General Manager expressed his deep concern o­n these incidents, when he took up the issue during his weekly safety review meeting with the three divisions (Bengaluru, Mysuru and Hubballi) and construction organization o­n 28.10.2021 through video conference.

Shri Kishore has appealed to the public to pro-actively report the incidences of deliberate mischief. He has stated that Railway Property is public property and damage to Railway property is a national loss. Public may report o­n all kinds of miscreant activity/concerns pertaining to safety o­n helpline number 139.

General Manager, Shri Sanjeev Kishore has appealed to the rail travelers and public to extend their support in maintaining safety. 

It is also pointed out that acts of mischief o­n Railway tracks may not o­nly cause safety violation for train operations but also be fatal to the trespassers.
