GOOD WORK DONE BY RAILWAY PROTECTION FORCE OF SOUTH WESTERN RAILWAY

The highlights of Good Work done by Railway Protection Force of South Western Railway during the month of October-2021 as detailed below:

i.Operation NanheFarishte:Under this Operation, with a mission of detecting/preventing the trafficking of children and women passengers, 79 children (62boysand 17 girls) were rescued and handed over to NGOs/ police and parents, during the month of October 2021.

ii.Touting:To curb the menace of black-marketing of passenger reservation tickets and to facilitate hassle free journey to bonafide passengers during Dussehra & Deepavali festival season, special drives were conductedagainst  Agencies/Agents all over the jurisdiction of South Western Railway.6 touts were arrested and prosecuted under Section 143 of Railways Act with theseizureof 14live reserved tickets valued Rs.18,963/-,120 used tickets valued Rs.1,18,253/-and3 cancelled tickets valued Rs.3,762/-.

iii.Railways Act: During the current month2711offenders were arrested under various sections of Railway Act and fine amount ofRs.4,35,670/- was realized.

iv.Recovery of Left Over Luggages:During the current month, o­n 29occasions, leftover items of passengers such as laptops, mobiles, gold/silver ornaments and other personal belongings etc with a total worth Rs.13,31,450/- were recoveredandsafelyhanded over to the passengers.

v.Recovery of Contraband Items:During the current month, o­n 06 occasions, liquor bottles/sachets etc with a total worthofRs.91,670/-were recovered and handed over to the Excise Department.

vi.Arrest under Other IPC Crimes & Other Acts:Railway Protection Force of Mysuru Division busted a fake Railway recruitment racket and arrested two Personsfor running a fake Railway recruitment racket by luring young job aspirants promising lucrative Railway jobs to them. 400 candidates have been duped to the tune of Rs. 22 crores. RPF special team confiscated 221 blank signed cheque leaves, Cash of Rs 4.15 lakhs, Original documents of many job aspirants, chequebooks, about 100 fake Railway Appointment orders, about 70 Fake name plates of TTE’s, 1 laptop and a computer were among other things seized from the gang.

vii.Arrest of Criminals Involved in Theft:RPF has supplemented and assisted Government Railway Police (GRP) in the arrest of 02 accused involved in theft of passenger belongings through drugging.
