SWR ACHIEVES HIGHEST PASSENGER REVENUE & MAINTAINS 3rd BEST PUNCTUALITY IN THE COUNTRY
·SWR records highest ever passenger revenue: Rs. 2755 crore
·116 trains speeded up in FY 2022-23
·SWR maintains impressive punctuality of 93.12% & overall 3rd Position among all zones of Indian Railways.
In the financial year 2022-23 South Western Railway has taken a number of steps in order to provide sufficient number of train services as per the demand of the passengers, while also keeping up punctuality. The punctuality of South Western railway has been at the third position among all the railway zones of Indian Railways. The punctuality fig of SWR stands at 93.12% which is highly impressive considering the high number of infrastructure Upgradation works undertaken (doubling, new line, electrification etc).
During FY 2022-23, 116 trains were speeded up saving cumulative 2816 minutes. As electrification has picked up pace, to avoid pollution and save diesel, 24 trains have been shifted to electric traction.
To cater to demands of passengers during holiday and festival seasons 291 special trains were run (total 3028 trips) to various destinations. 253 coaches have been augmented on permanent basis and 224 coaches on temporary basis to help passengers with additional berths.
In FY 2022-23, SWR carried 150.34 million passengers, earning a revenue of Rs. 2755.35 crores. This is an all time highest passenger revenue in the history of SWR!
Principal Chief Operations Manager Shri Hari Shankar Verma said that SWR is committed to meeting passenger demand, and several special trains, additional services were planned based on need in various routes. Apart from these, overall more than 2330 coaches were attached to clear additional rush, in the last financial year, he said.
General Manager Shri Sanjeev Kishore has complimented the Operations Dept in this feat - involved in planning and running trains to fulfil passenger demand.
