UPDATE o­n REDEVELOPMENT OF YESVANTPUR RAILWAY STATION

The works pertaining to redevelopment of Yesvantpur Railway Station has commenced from Feb 2023. As part of Phase-1, construction work has commenced o­n the ‘East Side’ i.e., platform No.1 side. The construction of Multi-Level Car Parking (G+5), and ramps for elevated road with Arrival/Departure plaza is in progress.

There will be separate arrival and departure points for vehicles, which will prevent congestion. The station will also have a massively large air concourse (14,800 sqm. in size) which will be o­n par with the waiting lounge of airports with provision for food courts, retail spaces, business centres etc.

The station would be constructed as per green-building norms, with provision for rain water harvesting, sewage water treatment plants etc. Sufficient provision would be made to allow ample natural light and ventilation. o­nly energy efficient LED lighting would be installed.

After completion of Phase-1 i.e., East side, the work will start o­n the West side (metro side). The entire work of redevelopment of Yesvantpur station is targeted to be completed by July 2025. M/s Girdhari Lal Constructions Pvt Ltd Delhi is the contractor for the redevelopment of this station. The cost of the work is approx. Rs. 380 crore.

A 3D Model of the redeveloped station is displayed in the station premises. Interested stakeholders, students, architects are welcome to visit to have a glimpse of what the station would look like post-redevelopment.

It may be noted that Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of this station in June 2022.
