Hubballi Division of South Western railway organized a Mock Drill o­n 27.08.2021 to check the alertness of Officers & Emergency staff of the Division.

A message was triggered that in the mid-section of Guledgudda Road and Badami, o­n 27.08.2021 at 21:15 hrs.,a road vehicle hit the locomotive of a train and the wheel of locomotive has derailed at LC No.35.

As soon as the message of the incidence was received at the Divisional Control, alert messages in the form of blowing the siren and informing the Officers and emergency staff were transmitted. The Divisional Accident relief train (ART) and Accident Relief Medical Van (ARMV) along with Officers and Staff left from Hubballi, within 20 minutes of receiving  message.   Helpline Desk was also set up.

In order to provide immediate medical relief, 108 Ambulance was  called at the spot and it  reached spot immediately to assist in transferring the injured to the nearest hospital after giving  first aid.State Police and Railway field staff also rushed the spot where the incident is reportedly occurred and reached it within 30 minutes.

The rescue team rushed to the incident spot immediately by ART from Hubballi along with Shri Arvind Malkhede, Divisional Railway Manager;   Shri JogendraYadvendu,Additional Divisional Railway Manager (G); Shri J.S. Rudraswami, Senior Divisional Safety Officer;  Divisional Medical Officer etc. Designated staff having teaching and experience in handling accidents also moved by ART.  Accident Relief Train from Hosapete and Vijayapura and Accident Relief Medical Van from Vijayapura were also moved.  The Divisional Control office was also manned by Shri Vishvas Kumar, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (OP), and Senior Officers for arranging the logistics  to provide instant relief and restoration.  Later,  at 22:30 hrs. it was declared as Mock Drill exercise.

The entire Mock Drill Exercise was meticulously planned and  executed under the direct supervision of  Shri M.A.V. Ramanujan, Principal Chief Safety Officer and Shri Arvind Malkhede, Divisional Railway Manager of Hubballi Division.

Shri Sanjeev Kishore, General Manager, South Western Railway said that such mock drills are conducted at prescribed periodicity to check and hone emergency response of Railway men and system.

The  results of mock drill in terms of turning out ART within stipulated time, reporting of Railway officials  at control office, action taken to arrange medical assistance and coordination among all concerned were upto the mark, he said.
