Catering Services:-
As per catering policy 2017 “IRCTC has been mandated to carry out the unbundling of catering services by creating a distinction primarily between food preparation and food distribution”. Accordingly, IRCTCshallberesponsibleforcateringservicesthroughmobilecateringunits, Base Kitchens, Cell Kitchens, Refreshment Rooms at A1 & A categoryof stations,FoodPlazas,FoodCourts,TrainSideVending,JanAhaars.
There are 39 pantry cars and 6 mini Pantry cars running on SWR serving 27 onboard catering services. Further, to cater to those trains that do not have Pantry cars, over South Western Railway, 7 sections have been identified and awarded Train Side Vending (TSV) contract.
