
Shri Vipul Kumar, IRSE has taken over as Principal Chief Engineer,
South Western Railway on 03.07.2020
Shri Vipul Kumar is a Civil Engineering graduate from Delhi college of Engineering, a gold medalist from 1983 batch and belongs to IRSE batch of 1986. In his career spanning over 32 years with Indian Railways he has dealt with important works of maintenance and construction of Rly. Tracks, bridges and other civil infrastructure including dealing with rail track design aspects.
He was deputed in 1999 and 2002 as international track expert for Uzbek Railways and advised them about the choice of modern track structure for upgrading Tashkent-Samarkand route.
While working as CE/construction/SWR in 2007-08, he led his team to achieve linking of Bagalkot-Gadak GC and commissioning of line uptoBadami including completion of bridge at Malprabha river near Holihallur. Many infrastructure works including residential complex &GM’s residence at Hubliwere completed during his tenure.
Shri Vipul has been instrumental in designs of many track products for Indian Railways while working at RDSO (Research Designs and Standards Organisation). Some of these products includeWider base Sleeper, Ballast less Track with low cost indigenous fastening system, improved toe load elastic clip and rail free fastening system for girder bridges.
