COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT
Commercial Department is face of Indian Railways and one of the important wings. The department is the major source of Revenue generation in Railways. Its primary duties are issue of Reserved and Unreserved Tickets, booking of Parcels and Luggage as well as movement of Freight. It is also the nodal department for public relations. The various activities handled by the department is appended below.
vFacilitation of Enquires and issue of Reserved and Unreserved Ticketing.
vProviding robust ticket checking mechanism for hassle free travel and effective monitoring of ticketless travel.
vAnnouncement of precise and timely information of running of trains though Public Address systems and across the counter.
vBooking of Parcel and Luggage.
vFreight transportation.
vProvision of Passenger Friendly Amenities like Catering, Waiting rooms, Retiring rooms, Escalators, Lifts, Buggy services etc.
vMarketing of Parcel and Freight by extending various schemes beneficial to customers.
vEmpathetic resolution of public grievances in the shortest time possible.
Mysuru division commercial branch prides itself in providing quality services with a smile. The division plans for running of need based and demand driven special trains during festival and summer seasons to cater to additional rush of passengers.
The division has set up a Business Development Unit to ease the way of doing business for Parcel and freight customers. In a first of its kind the division has developed an APP “SWIFT ” an acronym for single window integrated freight transportation. This app provides comprehensive information about services provided, freight calculator etc at the click of a button.
