Profile of Principal Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer/SWR

Sri.P.V.Raja Shekhar joined the 1987 batch of Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers after graduating from IIT Madras in 1987. He held a diversity of posts, both Signalling and Telecommunications, over South Central Railway, IRISET and Southern Railway before assuming charge of PCSTE/SWR on 7th December 2020.
The dedicated team of Signal and Telecommunication engineers he works with are committed to effecting changes needed in systems, processes and practices for large scale adoption of advanced technologies in Signalling and Telecommunications for improved working of the Railway.
He is passionate about technology adoption in various facets of Railway working and associated change management. He has commissioned a number of projects in Signalling and Communications. The Teams he lead, have to their credit development of an expert system for generation of Signalling drawings and setting up of an e-learning platform while at IRISET in 2000. More recently, while on deputation to RailTel, they had set up an Uptime certified Tier – III Data Center in Hyderabad and provided connectivity to 600 Gram Panchayats in Kerala in six months as part of NOFN.
He is presently committed to and involved with a brilliant team developing a converged communication system for South Western Railway. He is also working on adoption of Machine Learning for predictive maintenance of Signalling and Communication assets.
He has undergone Advanced Management Program at INSEAD, Singapore and ICLIF, Malaysia.
He is a keen golfer working for a single digit handicap. Being an avid naturalist, he breeds Koi and has a pet dog.
