WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

STC Bangalore also carries out training activities like any other Railway Training Centres. But, STC Bangalore is different from other training centres for the following reasons.

1. Training of Trainers

At all training centres, the training is imparted to trainees only. But STC Bangalore trains the trainers also. As per RB “Manual on Management of Training”, STC Bangalore is the only training centre in Indian Railways authorised to impart training to the trainers in which they are taught direct trainer skills.

This training programme is open to the trainers of all the training centres of Indian Railways. Recently trainers from Sri Lankan Railway were also trained in this course. In the year 2010-11, 138 trainers of Indian Railways and 10 trainers of Sri Lankan Railways were trained.

2. Training of Trainers on Disaster Management

Mechanical Department plays a vital role in rescue and restoration operation in case of a Railway Disaster. But, people many a times fail to discharge their duties effectively due to lack of knowledge and training.

Keeping this in mind, STC Bangalore was assigned the task of preparing the training module for training of various categories of railway employees viz officers, supervisors and technicians of Mechanical department on “Disaster Management”, which was approved by the Railway Board. As per this plan, STC Bangalore has the responsibility of training all the trainers of Mechanical Department (STCs and BTCs) on this aspect. First such course, participated by 35 trainers from all over Indian Railway was conducted from 12th- 24th December 2011.

3. Focus on Personality Development

Apart from covering the syllabus, yoga and meditation, STC also pay attention on the overall development of personality of the trainees to face the challenges of life by organising classes on emotional intelligence, Meditation, Spiritualism etc.

3.1 Attitude Development

The class on Attitude Development help the trainees to understand the importance of having a positive attitude towards work and life. Any attitudinal change from negative to positive brought about in the Trainees improves the performance of the organisation. The feedback from the trainees is very positive and support continuation of this class.

3.2 Personality Analysis

This Personality analysis class helps trainees to understand themselves better so that their strengths and weaknesses are identified and improved for the betterment of the organisation.

3.3 Emotional Intelligence

This class helps the trainees to identify, assess, and control the emotions oneself, of others, and of groups. This is mainly conducted for the trainees of safety categories to enable them to act appropriately in times of crisis.

4. Animation Software

Animation software has been developed by Shri P. S. Nagaraj, LP (Shunting) /SBC assisted by faculties of this training centre, on various topics on G&SR and Diesel locomotives, which is very useful for explaining complex concepts of train operation and working of diesel locomotives to the trainees. Particularly for trainees of initial training who are new to Railway working, the software is an effective tool to comprehend various concepts.

5. Shramdan

A year back, lot of Civil construction debris, used rails and other scraps were scattered all over the campus. The weekly Shramdan by Trainees and Faculty has helped in beautifying the campus. The Shramdan activities inculcate a culture of working in teams, dignity of labour for the trainees without any discrimination.
