Evolution:

This is one of the Main Training Institutes of Indian Railways recognised by Railway Board on 14.10.2013. Chief Traffic Planning Manager is nominated as the Training Manager and a Senior Scale officer is posted as Vice Principal for full time. The training imparted here is on G&SR & Commercial Rules for the staff of all departments mainly from Operating and Commercial Departments. The mandatory courses on G&SR for all other staff such as Tower Wagon Drivers, SSEs, and Track Machine Operators is also undertaken.

Railway Board issued the Guidelines to all the Divisions to Amalgamate all Training Institutes and bring them under one roof viz. Multi Disciplinary  Zonal Training Institute.

2010

As per the Guidelines of Railway Board UBL Division constructed a new Building to start Multi Disciplinary Zonal training Institute. It was inaugurated by then GM/SWR Shri. Kuldeep Chaturvedi on 09.07.2010.

With the approval of then General Manager the Multi Disciplinary Railway Training Institute (MDRTI) became functional.

Inaugurated by then CPO Shri. Mohan Menon, in presence of COM Shri. N. C. Sinha,CME Shri D. K. Safaf, and CCM Shri. Sanjeeb Haldar.

CTPM Shri N. Srinivas was the first Training Manager and Dy. COM/FOIS Shri T. Raghavan was the First Principal.

Inaugural Faculty members were;

Shri. K. Srinivas Murthy: Operating

Shri. Yogish S. Japati: Operating

Shri. J. Jagadeesh Kumar: Operating and

Shri. S. Hari Manohar: Commercial.

GM/SWR Sri. A. K. Mital visited the Institute and sanctioned Rs. 30 Lakhs for procurement of Infrastructure such as projectors, computers, furniture etc. The procurement was completed in the year of 2013.

Railway Board has recognized this training institute as one of the Main Training Institute of Indian Railways. (E(MPP)2013/3/18 dated 14.10.2013

Proposal for creation of posts was submitted to CPO/SWR.

Revised on 19.04.16, the requirement is of 53 posts.

Railway Board has sanctioned for payment of training allowance. (RB letter no. E(MPP)2013/3/18 dated 20.03.2015.

GM/SWR Shri. P. K. Saxena, called upon Dy. CSO/Safety and Vice Principal to take the position and requirements of Institute. The minutes of meeting was also circulated to all HODs for necessary action to take up development works of Institute.

GM/SWR Shri. P.K. Saxena inspected the Institute and circulated the notes to all HODs for complaisance pending works and development works. Like providing Railway Phone, Levelling of Ground for Sports facility, Providing additional Bathrooms toilets etc.

GM/SWR Sri. A. K. Gupta Inspected the Institute and Hostel along with All PHODs and Held the Meeting at MDZTI/DWR. The Instructions were as under:

a)To Propose for Housekeeping Contract,

b)Creation of Posts,

c)Providing Operating Model Room,

d)Providing UTS/PRS and FOIS lab.

e)To provide outdoor models of air brake and OHE for training.

f)To propose for new Hostel and Institute Buildings to undertake the training of all the departments. As stop gap arrangement, Expansion of Hostel and Institute to be proposed.

Memorandum of creation of Posts of Instructors on transfer of posts from Divisions was issued. The posts transferred are as under;

a)04 Station Master in GP 4600 (02 from UBL, 01 from SBC and 1 from MYS)

b)02 Commercial Supervisors in GP 4600 (01 from UBL and 01 from MYS)

c)01 SSE/C&W from UBL.

GM/SWR Sri. A.K. Gupta made his second Inspection of MDZTI along with All PHODs. He took the stock of developmental works and instructed to propose for construction of New Hostel, Start the UTS/PRS Lab for Training of Commercial Staff, Providing outdoor models of Signal, Track, and Isolators etc. GM also Instructed to Provide Bill Unit for MDZTI for Payments.

Notification for selection to 05 posts of G&SR Instructors was issued.

Nov. 2017

Independent bill unit for MDZTI /DWR was started and payment all the staff working at MDZTI/DWR started to be drawn from HQ.

Notification for selection to 01 post Mechanical Instructor (C&W) was issued.

Notification for selection to 02 posts of Commercial Instructors was issued.

UTS/PRS and FOIS lab inaugurated and Operating Model Room works were commenced by GM/SWR, Shri A. K. Gupta, in presence of PCOM Shri. G. J. Prasad and other HODs.

Proposal of New Hostel, Institute Building and Sports complex was uploaded on IRPSM for PWP 2019-20 under plan head 65.

The proposal for expansion of Hostel and Institute costing upto Rs.5 crore was uploaded on IRPSM. This work is proposed under umbrella works sanctioned by Railway Board for the year 18-19.

Regular batches of RC SMs was started. With this dependence on MDZTI/TPJ was eliminated.

GM/SWR Shri. A. K. Singh inspected the Institute along with PCOM and other PHODs. He expressed his satisfaction over the cleanliness and training activates. As gesture of appreciation he has declared the group cash award of Rs. 50000/-. Inspection notes were circulated for completing the development works on priority.

1st Phase of Model Room inaugurated by GM/SWR, Shri A. K. Singh, in presence of PCOM and other PHODs.
