 Shri Mukul Saran Mathur took over charge of General Manager, South Western Railway on 1st March 2025. Born on 26th January, 1966, he holds a Law Degree from Delhi University., and Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.
A 1988 Batch Officer of Indian Railway Traffic Service, joined Railways on 20thAug 1990. He has an association with the Indian Railways spanning over three decades and has served on Central Railway, Northern Railway, East Coast Railway, West Central Railway & Railway Board in various capacities.
He had served as Divisional Railway Manager/Waltair, Principal Chief Commercial Manager & Principal Chief Operations Manager/West Central Railway, Executive Director/PPP, PED/Infra and Addl. Member/Commercial, Railway Board before joining as General Manager/ South Western Railway. He has handled key infrastructure projects including Dedicated Freight Corridor, High Speed Rail, Port and Mine Connectivity Projects. Also he has contributed towards enhancing passenger experience through Digital Solutions.
He has also worked as the Head of Asia office of International Union of Railway and has contributed to rail developments in the Asia-Pacific region.
For his works in the past, he has been awarded by Railway Minister MR Award in 2005, Change Agent Award in 2018 and Leadership Excellence Award in 2019 by Hon’ble MR.
