Freight Operation
The major industries in SWR are Iron ore Mining, Steel Production, Cement Manufacturing, Sugar, Granite, Automobile Manufacturing and Agricultural Products. The State of Goa is served with the MPT Port and export and import traffic dealt as per demand of the trade primarily to the State of Karnataka.
Iron ore loading is one of the major segments in originating freight loading of SWR. Production of steel in Karnataka is ranked at 2nd. The JSW Tornagallu is India’s largest integrated steel plant with installed capacity of 18 million Tonnes. As per official record company is trying to increase its production in coming few years.
The imported coal is Second largest commodity in originating loading term and Third in earning term. It is the most important traffic as it originates and terminate in SWR, granting us all revenue.
SWR is constantly engaged with minor to major plants for their logistic requirements and providing all services especially co-user permission to their sidings.
