About MDDTI/SBC
Multi Disciplinary Divisional Training Institute ( MDDTI) was established as System Technical School at Bangalore on 16th September 1957 as per the recommendations of Technical Training Committee Report of 1955 to train Apprentice Mechanics and Apprentice Train Examiners of Southern Railway. In due course an important safety category of Loco running staff were added for training. System Training School (STS) was renamed as Supervisors’ Training Centre (STC) in 1992 and further renamed as to Multi Disciplinary Divisional Training Institute in the year 2020 Permanent-Way Training Institute was merged to MDDTI on 28/09/2021, MDDTI has grown phenomenally over the years in terms of the type of training programmes conducted and quality of training imparted.
Today, this training Institute stands tall among other training centres of Indian Railways (IR) in providing value added training to the Railway personnel. Special courses like Disaster Management, Computer Awareness, Data Base Management, Supervisory Development Programme conducted by MDDTI are very popular, not only amongst all the departments of SWR and SR, but also in other Railway Zones as well.
MDDTI/SBC is the only training Institute of IR authorized by Railway Board to conduct the “Training of Trainers” course in IR. All trainers, including Vice Principals & Principals of all training centres of Indian Railways undergo this training.
MDDTI has excellent infrastructure facilitiy for imparting quality training. Classrooms have been equipped with latest training aids like Digital Smart Boards, multimedia projectors, magnetic white boards etc. Facilities like library, hostel, mess, sports and recreation are also available.
The faculty comprises of experienced gazetted and non-gazetted staff from workshops and Divisions. Visiting faculty is drawn from serving and retired Railway officers and supervisors, as well as from reputed Private sector undertakings (PSU) who are experts in their fields. The Methodology of training include Class room lectures, Group Discussions, Group Exercises, Practical Demonstrations on working models, Field visits to Depot/ Shop/ Shed/ Yard/ Pit lines/Stations/Model rooms.
It is the endeavour of MDDTI to make the staff, not only to develop their professional knowledge and skills required to carry out the defined task and responsibilities but also to develop scientific thinking, methodical working to display and and attitudinal change that integrates with life, work and self-development. Further, MDDTI has made Yoga and Meditation classes compulsory for all the trainees to keep their body and mind in sound health.
MISSION & OBJECTIVES
The mission statement of Multi Disciplinary Divisional Training Institute is as follows
“To develop knowledge and skills of supervisors & Running Staff and to effect attitudinal change by systematic training so as to achieve excellence in work and to about bring about continual improvement in the performance of the Indian Railways.”
In order to fulfil above mission, Multi Disciplinary Divisional Training Institute has the following objectives to achieve.
a)To Impart Quality and Effective Theoretical and Field Training to the Newly Recruited and Promoted Supervisors to Develop their Professional Competency.
b)To Refresh and Update the Technical Knowledge of the C&W Supervisors in the area of latest maintenance practices to provide safe train services to the fullest satisfaction of our esteemed customers
c)To refresh and update the technical knowledge & skills of Loco Running Staff to provide safe and punctual train services.
d)To Design and Deliver Need-Based Training to Supervisors to Improve their Technical and supervisory Skills in keeping with changing trends.
e)To Mould Supervisors into Effective Leaders to Achieve Organisational Goals.
f)To Train the Trainers of All The Training Centres of Indian Railways to Become Effective Trainers.

Capacity: MDDTI/SBC is having a capacity to train nearly 6000 trainees per year.
