Profile of Shri. Ajay Sharma, Chief Administrative Officer, S.W.R 
- Shri. Ajay Sharma took over the charge of Chief Administrative Officer (Construction), South Western Railway on 9th August 2024. Before this posting, he was working as Director (Project) in MP Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
- He belongs to 1990 batch of Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE). In over 32 years of working experience including as Head and Deputy Head of departments, he has been posted over three Zonal Railways, Ministry of Railways, DMRC and MP Metro Rail Corporation Limited where he has handled variety of assignments covering broad spectrum of activities related to Project management of doubling/ new line projects, Urban Infra projects, Track Maintenance, Track Machines, Safety and Vigilance etc.
- As Director (Project), MP Metro Rail Corporation Limited, he was responsible for project planning and execution of Civil Engineering construction in Metro projects at Bhopal and Indore.
- While being posted as Chief Bridge Engineer in Northern Railway, he had been responsible for inspection, maintenance, rehabilitation / rebuilding of approx 21,000 bridges and 40 km of tunnels over 13,400 track kms. The responsibility also included scrutiny and approval of GADs, designs and constitution schemes of all construction above / below railway lines of NR.
- Earlier as Chief Engineer/ MRTS in Northern Railway, he had also handled functions related to land management and interface with Mass Rail Transport Systems.
- As Executive Director, in Ministry of Railways he had dealt with policy issues concerning land matters (including monetization & redevelopment of Railway colonies etc) and policies related to Metro Transport projects.
- He has also worked as Chief Project Manager in DMRC where he was responsible for Planning, execution, project management and Commissioning of two elevated metro projects in NCR area (Dilshad Garden to New Bus Adda Ghaziabad & Noida City Centre to Noida Electronic City)
- While working as Chief Engineer/ Property Development in DMRC, he has handled Non Fare Revenue stream, entailing monetization of real estate assets as well as PPP initiatives.
- As Deputy Chief Engineer in Railway, he was responsible for Planning, executing and commissioning of Major Railway Civil engineering Projects of new lines, doubling, remodelling of major Railway yards, Road Over / Under Bridges, multi-storeyed buildings and Industrial structures for Electric Loco Shed and Box Repair Depot etc.
- Currently, Shri. Ajay Sharma is in-charge of the entire Construction Organization of South Western Railway consisting of 17 doubling, 23 new line projects, 88 ROB/RUB works under road safety works, ROB/RUB proposals, 17 Traffic facility works, 17 Workshop works, etc.
