DRIVING TOWARDS EXCELLENCE, ECONOMY & ECSTASY (PASSENGER)





Brief Overview:


The Electrical Department is headed by Principal Chief Electrical Engineer, assisted by Chief Electrical General Engineer, Chief Electrical Engineer (EEM), Chief Electrical Loco Engineer, Chief Electrical Distribution Engineer & Chief Motive Engineer (Diesel). PCEE/SWR is Electrical Inspector to GOI for SWR & overall in charge for Electrical & Diesel Traction, Railway Electrification and General Power Supply arrangements with assistance from various field units under him.

  • Electrical Locomotives

Presently, SW Railway is holding a total of 74 Electric Locomotives: ( 23 WAP7 & 45 WAG9HC) homed  at KJM shed and (06 WAG9HC) homed at UBL shed .Trip Attention is being given for Coaching Locomotives at KSR Bengaluru & SGT.


  • Diesel Locomotives

    SW Railway is holding a total of 409 Diesel Locomotives based at Krishnarajapuram & EMD Diesel Loco Shed (Hubballi) working for passenger & Goods Services

RAILWAY ELECTRIFICATION (RE)



Railway Electrification will enable railways to shift towards Electric Traction from Diesel Traction, which in turn save the Diesel fuel besides better performance , saving time for traction change resulting in seamless operation and environment friendly.

  • Ballari-Hubballi-Londa-Tinaighat

  • Ballari-chikjajur-Birur

  • Birur-Chikjajur-Tholahanse

  • Gadag-Hole Alur, 

  • Hotgi-Kalgurki-Wandal

  • Ghataprabha-Kudachi

  • Tornagallu-Ranajitapura

  • Baiyyappanahalli-Omlur

  • Yelahanka-Chikkaballapur

  • Mysuru-Chamrajanagar

ENERGY CONSERVATION / HARNESSING SOLAR ENERGY


South Western Railway cordially join hands for implementation of Hon’ble Prime Minister’s Solar Mission for harnessing Green Energy.


   ●Completed Rooftop Solar projects over SW Railway:


At Hubli Station an aggregated capacity of 280 kWp Grid Connected Solar Roof Top has been installed (on Developer Mode). 


    100 kWp Solar Roof top plant installed at Mysore Divisional office (on Developer Mode). 

500 kWp Grid Tied Rooftop Solar Plant at Carriage & Repair Workshop, Mysuru (on Developer Mode) Shares approximately 50-55% of Workshop Energy requirements

DRM Office  Bangalore has total installed capacity of 60 kWp (on Developer Mode)

 250 kWp solar rooftop plant has been installed  over Rail Soudha, SWR HQ (on Developer Mode)


In total  4535 kWp of solar Rooftop plants have been installed over SWR, generating in total  4.61 Million unit of Clean Energy per annum on an average, inturn resulting quantum of savings around  Rs. 1.96 Crores (last year) per annum to railways. 


PASSENGER FRIENDLY AMENITIES


  • Provision of Lifts :

    So far, 43 nos Passenger Lifts have been commissioned at various Important Railway Stations over South Western Railway  for facilitating Disabled / Senior Citizens, the list is below:
