Vinay Kumar Agarwal has taken over the charge as Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer (PCME), South Western Railway on 11th August 2023.
V K Agarwal is a Graduate in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Roorkee and he has also done DIIT in Industrial Technology from IIT,Delhi.
He is an officer of IRSME 1988 batch. He has served in various cadres of IRSME at Western Railway, RITES LTD, RDSO, South Central Railway and Railway Board. He has served as Technical Expert [Rolling Stock] under the project of RITES in Colombia (2001-2004).He has extensive experience in the maintenance of Diesel Locos, Wagons and Design of Wagons. He has been Executive Director Srestha/RDSO (20172019) where he was Responsible for setting up SRESTHA (Special Railway Establishment Strategic Technology & Holistic Advancement).
He has undergone training in Advanced Management Programme at ICLIF, Malasia.
He is a recipient of the National Award (Minister of Railways Award) for Meritorious Service in 2009 for design and manufacturing of higher pay to tare ratio stainless steel BOXNHL wagons while serving RDSO as Director/Wagon.
Shri V K Agarwal was Executive Director Mechanical Engineering (Freight) before taking over as Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, South Western Railway.
